Saint Laurent Envelope Bag – First Impressions

Super Long Time – no Blogpost. After being offline for quite a while because of our baby boys, I finally decided to come back again and post an article whenever I get the time to do so, this time in English only. 😉

In January I bought a new handbag and as it is a bag that not everyone has, I decided to write down my first impressions and a small review about it.

The story behind this purchase

Before getting this bag I was actually looking at the Saint Laurent Envelope Woc because I so wanted to have a Saint Laurent piece in my collection. However, I quickly figured out that the Envelope Woc can’t hold a lot and looks way too dressy for everyday use. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it and I will probably get it one day but right now I needed a bag that suited my lifestyle a bit better – meaning a bag that can hold all the essentials plus a bit extra. So I texted my SA in Oslo and was asking for a low maintenance bag that can be worn crossbody but at the same time over the shoulder. And luckily, exactly this day, they newly got in the large monogram envelope bag. It was basically love at first side, so it was quite an impulse buy. 🙂

First Impressions

Two days later I received the bag in the post and after opening it I was positively surprised. I haven’t had a Saint Laurent bag before and when inspecting it, I noticed right away that the quality is outstanding and the bag itself is really well made. The stitching is perfect and the silver hardware is shiny and slightly on the heavier side. The Caviar calfskin leather is really sturdy and carefree, as a mum of two I don’t have to be worried about any scratches or other kind of wear and tear. I also love the fact that I can wear the bag short over the shoulder, crossbody and long over the shoulder. I could also hide the handles in the bag and just wear it as a big clutch under my arm. In my opinion you can easily dress it up or down, as it functions for nearly all occasions (excluding playground visits with the kids). On the back, the bag has a pocket where I can keep my phone or public transport tickets or anything else I need to grab quickly. Inside of the bag there is one large compartment and a small zipper compartment where I could keep some valuables like passports, wallet etc. If you scroll all the way down you can see what I usually carry with me, however there is space for a bit more.

This is all I can say so far about the bag – I’ve only been wearing it a hand-full of times and didn’t notice anything negative just yet. All in all I can say that this is definitely a classic bag that will stand the test of time and will never go out of fashion.

Next purchase

Since my birthday is approaching I was thinking that it is time to add yet another bag to my collection. So after some research online I decided that it will be a bag from Gucci. It is actually on the way already. So stay tuned for a new unboxing soon.
